Application of hemp fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites

according to the information provided by the European Hemp Industry Association, in the European Union, about 15 to 20 companies are mainly engaged in the production and processing of hemp fiber, and 5 to 10 such companies are distributed in Eastern Europe. The main companies are hemcore in the UK, hempflex and hemp2ron in the Netherlands, lcoa in France, Bafa in Germany, etc. In total, these major companies share 72% ~ 90% of the fiber production share in the EU. The hemp fiber produced in EU is mainly used in papermaking, automobile, construction and other fields, of which the special pulp accounts for 70% ~ 80% of the total output of hemp fiber. In 2001, the automobile industry accounted for 17% of the application share of cannabis fiber, a decrease of 1% compared with 1996. The demand for cannabis fiber in the automotive industry has maintained a fairly high growth rate since 1996. For example, the annual growth rate from 1999 to 2000 was 90%. Hemp fiber can be used for thermoplastic natural fiber composite parts, such as door panels and trunk liners. Each vehicle uses about 5 ~ 10kg of natural fiber. In 2000, about 28200t natural fibers were used in the automotive industry in Europe. Among them, 20000T is flax, 3700t is jute and kenaf, and 3500t is cannabis. Due to the influence of the new molding process - natural fiber polypropylene injection molding, the growth trend of hemp fiber application in the automotive industry will continue in the next few years. The application of building parts and insulating parts accounts for about 615% of the EU hemp fiber output

the following will specifically explain the application of hemp fiber thermoplastic composites in modern automobile industry and Architecture:

(1) automobile workers set up specialized reinforcement processing and distribution centers and prefabricated parts processing centers

lightweight, safety, comfort and environmental protection are the main trends in the development of the world automobile industry. Plastics and their composites are important automotive materials. The average consumption of plastics per vehicle has reached 105kg, accounting for about 8% ~ 12% of the total vehicle mass. The number of parts and components made of PP varies according to different models, involving 60 or 70 varieties. The use of plastics can reduce the mass of parts by about 40%, which means the reduction of fuel consumption and waste emissions, especially in today's increasingly scarce oil and rising oil prices

the performance advantages of hemp fiber composite used as automobile parts are: green products, reducing automobile weight, reducing manufacturing cost, improving automobile collision resistance, sound insulation, recyclable materials, etc

hemp fiber composites are mainly used in the automotive industry for car interior door panels, driver's glove boxes, truck compartment floors, spare tire covers, seat backs, as well as instrument panels and seats. Liaoning will accelerate the development of new material industries, such as handrails, roof interiors, sun visors, luggage compartment 710, 0.92% increase in decoration panels, etc. See Table 1 for specific application examples

(2) construction industry

the biggest advantage of hemp fiber composite used as building materials is that they have small maintenance workload, because they have the following characteristics: no crack, no deformation, anti pneumatic single worm, anti rat bite, good durability, long service life, low long-term water absorption, no decay, etc

hemp fiber composites have been used in the construction industry as decoration shutters, wallboards and wallboards. It may be used as roof slab of buildings in the future. The main factor driving the growth of natural fiber market demand is decorative board. However, the development of some new uses such as wallboard, wallboard and roof panel will greatly increase the market demand for natural fibers such as flax and hemp

in addition to the automotive and construction industries, hemp fiber composites can also be used in military aviation, furniture, highway soundproof panels, ship cabinets and compartments, office partitions, etc

The 21st century is a century of environmental protection. With the enhancement of people's awareness of environmental protection, all walks of life, especially the construction industry and automobile industry, which are closely related to people's lives, will particularly favor "green". Therefore, as a "green product", hemp fiber composites will have great development opportunities and broad prospects
